I will be sharing my passion for freehand machine embroidery! After an initial demonstration, going right back to basics, you will start to ‘play’ at freehand embroidery on a pre-prepared fabric piece.
You will then pick a theme, from my hand drawn stencils. This will be embroidered onto the fabric piece and made up into their own, unique, fabric tealight holder (all these kits are provided and included in the price of the day). The second little project is an embroidered brooch, this will either be a butterfly or a bird. I will also provide the kits for these. With my wide choice of themes and help with layout, everyone will leave with two finishes pieces, embroidered in their own free way.
I always say at the beginning of the day “you cannot make a mistake” I just encourage people to develop their own style.
I will also explain machine tension and give tips for various ‘mark making’ with threads. Applique will be included, along with free stitch advice.
Please bring along -An ordinary, basic sewing machine - this is all that is required for this technique. Just make sure the machine is in good working order, has a ‘Darning foot’ and a ‘Darning plate. The plate is not necessary if the machine has a lever or button which lowers the ‘feeder teeth’.
You will also need - Scissors, Sewing machine (with a ‘darning foot), pencil and a few spare, empty bobbins.
