You will make patterned, printed dyed fabrics and papers, combining ghostly photographic cyanotype blueprinted images, with beautiful natural blue Indigo dye.
We will use the timeless Arashi shibori process to create amazing sea wave like patterns, along with other simple folding and tying techniques.
All items for making the cyanotypes, such as photos, stencils, shells, feathers, seaweeds etc, will be provided but you can bring your own images and materials to use if preferred,
You will make a set of samples for reference or to use in future projects.
For this class there is a £10 charge for materials (payable on the day), in addition to this you will need to bring the following -
A basic sewing and art kit – brushes, pencils and pens, pins, needle and threads, scraps of natural fibre cloth and papers. If students want to use their own photographic images for printing, bring a negative of the image on acetate, up to A4 in size.
